Congrats to all the recipients!

ORDER OF AERILON
Les Rickard
Congratulations Admiral Les Rickard “Papa bear” on receiving
the Order of Aerilon. This is the Fleet Member of the Year award. It is
the second-highest award in the Colonial Ministry of Defense and is
bestowed upon the one member in each fleet who has, through
outstanding and unselfish efforts, contributed the most to their
particular Fleet. The following is from your nomination.

“Les Rickard was instrumental in helping Battlestar Guardian
launch and saw us through commissioning. Les was there to answer
questions, help get our members signed up and guided us on what
CWA courses we needed in order to commission the chapter. Les
made us feel like a part of Aerilon Fleet and communicated with our
crew constantly. He invited our members to participate in Battlestar
Olympus chats and a miniseries viewing party. Les also participated
in Guardian chats on Discord and always provides great
conversation! Battlestar Guardian feels Les Rickard is worthy of this
recognition and we hope the FCO does as well.”

ORDER OF LEONIS
Brian P Smith
Congratulations Commander Brian P Smith on receiving the
Order of Leonis. This is the Fleet Member of the Year award. It is the
second-highest award in the Colonial Ministry of Defense and is
bestowed upon the one member in each fleet who has, through
outstanding and unselfish efforts, contributed the most to their
particular Fleet. The following is from your nomination.

“After much discussion between the FCO and FXO of the Leonis
Fleet - Commander Brian P Smith, XO of the Battlestar Hydra is
hereby nominated for the CMOD Order of the Colonies (CMOD Fleet
Member of the Year). During this year where a pandemic hit our
planet, Brian has been working on the front lines in the healthcare
system. As well, when the CO of the Hydra had to step back from his
duties for a short time due to health, Brian also stepped up to that role
And then he also volunteered to help out in the Office of the DCNC
issuing awards to members, as (humbly) he’d rather issue awards
than receive them. All this while raising and providing for a young
family.

We know of no other member of the fleet that has invested so much
time and energy to the benefit of of so many people, without so much
as a thought for himself.”

Chris Dykes
Congratulations Vice Admiral Chris Dykes “Reboot” on receiving
the Order of Sagittaron. This is the Fleet Member of the Year award. It
is the second-highest award in the Colonial Ministry of Defense and is
bestowed upon the one member in each fleet who has, through
outstanding and unselfish efforts, contributed the most to their
particular Fleet. The following is from your nomination.

“It is an honor to recognize Vice Admiral Chris Dykes,
Commander of the Battlestar Masada. Admiral Dykes’ efforts for the
entire year on behalf of his crew, the Sagittaron Fleet, and the entire
Colonial Ministry of Defense have been exemplary. His regular
postings on the club social media sites and his private
communications have helped to improved member morale during the
ongoing worldwide pandemic that greatly limited CMOD’s ability to
interact with members. He showed great leadership and participation
during chapter and fleet activities such as the “22 Pushup Challenge”
to bring attention to the high suicide rate among military veterans. ”

“To support CMOD publications and member-initiated projects,
Admiral Dykes created a number of Battlestar Galactica
computer models during the year: a Prometheus Battlestar,
several versions of Loki cruisers, several models of Colonial
Viper, and a number of Colonial Marine combat vehicles. Admiral
Dykes’ biggest contribution to CMOD during the year was his
authoring of a large number of technical and universe-historical
manuals, which greatly enhanced the fan experience of all
CMOD members and provided valuable reference materials for
the Colonial Warrior Academy. Chris Dykes has been an
example to the entire fleet and it is with great pleasure we
recognize his contributions and award him the ORDER OF
SAGITTARON, our fleet’s highest honor.”

ORDER OF SCORPIA
Allen Archie

the Order of Scorpia. This is the Fleet Member of the Year award. It is

Operations.”

source of encouragement and strength to her chapter. In addition to
being the publisher of the ships newsletter, she also nearly
singlehandedly held a CMoD booth at a local con before the event
was cancelled due to Covid.”

FLEET GUARDIAN
Battlestar Guardian
Congratulations to the valiant crew of the Battlestar Guardian BS-65 on
receiving the Fleet Guardian Award the highest award a
chapter may receive and is bestowed on the chapter that has, through
outstanding and unselfish efforts, contributed the most to their particular
Fleet and/or the CMoD as a whole. The following is from your nominations

“Battlestar Guardian interacts with sister ships Olympus and Polaris,
mostly on the Discord server for the Fleet. Members of all three chapters
have gathered at times on Discord for fun conversation as well as the
occasional viewing party hosted by Olympus of the BSG mini-series.
Battlestar Guardian is proud to be the second chapter in the Colonial Ministry
of Defense to comply with the Colonial Data Protection Policy, having both
the CO and XO taking and passing the exam. Also, all qualifying members
have taken and passed the Senior Pilot Exam, enabling said chapter
members to proudly wear their Senior Pilot wings!

Our chapter will continue to be active and we expect to be even more
so once the pandemic allows us to safely meet once again. Members
are looking into purchasing uniforms Ever since it was launched in early
2020, Battlestar Guardian has hit the ground running in Aerilon Fleet.
The chapter quickly met all the requirements to become a Battlestar
and ‘commissioned’ in less than 2 months. Especially during the global
pandemic, chapter members utilize a number of communications
methods to remain active, on the chapter, fleet and organizational level.
Battlestar Guardian had quickly established a Discord server, used for
monthly ‘meetings’ as well as a Facebook page in order to maintain a
presence in the online community.

Our membership currently stands at 16 members, many of which utilize
the Colonial Warrior Academy. To date, there are several members who
have taken 18+ courses since the chapter launched! Over the next
year, more chapter members are expected to take part in fun Academy
courses. We even have chapter swag- coffee mugs, t-shirts and mouse
pads. An official chapter t-shirt has also been made for when we can
once again physically get together.

Battlestar Guardian is no stranger in Aerilon Fleet. The chapter s and
even planning some sort of recruitment drive at local conventions. We
are a proud chapter in the Colonial Ministry of Defense and look forward
to many years of fun and friendship!”

“Since the chapter has joined Wayne Augustson and his chapter
have been cheerleaders. They have been active and driving activity in
the Aerilon fleet. His chapter has held regular discord chats and invited
and included all fleet members to join and be a part. He posts regularly
encouraging fleet activity. The Guardian has set an example for other
chapters.”

THE ORDER OF KOBOL
Michael Malotte
The Order of Kobol is the Colonial Ministry of Defense’s Member
of the Year award. It is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a
member of the organization. The award is presented to the one member
who has, through truly outstanding and unselfish efforts, contributed the
most to the betterment of the CMoD. This award has traditionally been
issued by the Commander in Chief. This was an extremely difficult
decision to make. All of the nominees are more than deserving of this
recognition. It is my great honor to be able to announce the recipient of
this award for the mountains of work they did in 2020. Congratulations
Fleet Admiral Michael Malotte “Bassman”. The following is from your
nomination.

“I nominated Mike due to a flurry of factors. As you know, despite
not taking credit for it, he has been heavily involved in the new
academy, added all of the exams, created all the certificate templates,
spent countless hours helping me test content. All while doing almost
90% of all grading and certs in the Academy while the previous Dant
was busy. All the while giving the Dant all the credit for the work. He
has driven to help fill in every role he possibly can, to the point that is
almost unbelievable. I’m in awe of how much Mike does for the Org and
how little credit he takes for all his efforts.

Congrats to all the recipients!
